03/25/09 - Bike Ride

An example of a recent activity that I should have approached differently...

On 3/25, I rode my recumbent tricycle and walked some. All told, about 18 miles. How do I know? I had a GPS with me. My father did tag along with me.

My GPS path

My path is the green line. My origin is at about the right end of the path, and my destination is at the left end of the path. I forgot to put on sun-block, and my forearms and lower legs are still suffering the consequences (peeling now).

I managed to take a few photos along the way.

Kayak Rentals, Dunedin Causeway

Honeymoon Island, my planned destination

18 miles?! Dude, why can't you just be a couch potato like the rest of us?

Very glad to see that the positive demeanor is back.

Dear Mark,

Have been diligently keeping abreast of your updates and GREAT NEWS. Your x-rays, pics, and other activities present a very positive direction for you. So very pleased with your progress, as well as the wonderful healing progress. Thank the good Lord and the doctors. Of course, we have to remember your positive and good attitude is much of your healing process, too. Keep up the good work of getting better.

Have been unable to respond to all updates and comments since I, myself, have been hospitalized and am recuperating from a major viral infection in my face (cellulitus). I was discharged from my week's stay while Lu and Gene were here on their way back home to Pgh. I at least had 2 days of visitation with them, although Lu and my mom did most of the cooking. I am still on daily IV drips through my "pick" insertion, which takes about 1-1/2 hours daily, even weekends. Bill takes me to an infusion clinic in north Melbourne every day...yuk! But I am getting better, thank the good Lord.

The pic of you and Laura was good to see, also. Both of you look super! Let us know when you feel like traveling and you can make a weekend trip over here. Amy and Caleb are living with us now, but there is still plenty of room. We'd make sure Wade and Gina come up with Ryleigh too. Oh yeah, little "Gracie" will be making her appearance around the end of May to join her sister Ryleigh. We are getting very excited.

Take good care of yourself, for we already know Laura is doing her best at keeping you pointed in the right direction. Of course, Big Monkey is doing his job, too.

Much love from all the Gregorys,
Mary

Mary,

I hope you are feeling better soon. I have been struggling a bit over the past month, but I hope it is behind me now.

Marcus sounds like things are going well. Great news about your recent tests. We miss you in the 'Burgh. Maybe Leah and I have to plan a Tampa trip to visit. Sorry I've been out of touch. Just really busy right now with work. Things are going well. We are thinking of you and Laura and hope to see you soon. Take care.

George and Leah

PS: are you serious that "Bud" rode 18 miles? I don't believe it!! Later buddy!

George & Leah,

Probably my quickest response ever. Thank you for the comments. I actually had lunch with Big Ed today. He and his daughter, Amber, drove over from their vacation in Orlando...

Busy with work is good these days... Glad to hear that things are going well. Yes, Bud rode along. Hey, I thought I might have accomplished something... To tell you the truth, that ride was about a month ago and I forgot to wear sunblock - still peeling. I make that mistake too often. Oh well...

Oops! The ride was less than two weeks ago... Here I thought it was a month. I can't be trusted...
