04/06/10 - Radiation #6

I'll have Radiation Treatment #6 of 13 later today at 4:45PM. I'm almost half-way done already... I need to take/post a picture! The treatment typically lasts less than 5 minutes, so I am in and out. So far, I don't feel any ill-effects or pain, and I don't expect that I will.

Once again, I won't find out any results until I have an MRI on May 20th, unless I happen to have some improvement in side-effects from my illness before then. My tumors have been sensitive to radiation treatments in the past, so hopefully that trend will continue...

Hey Mark,

I just got caught up on your last several posts. Just keep forging on!

I saw Big Monkey in a car commercial a couple of weeks ago. Did you see it? I think it was a Kia?? I'm sure you are getting a cut of the profits?

Also I liked that card from Slug. How funny!

Anyway, keep moving forward Mark! You are an inspiration!

Glad to hear that your treatments are going smoothly and there are no ill effects! And, it's good that you are half way completed. We will be praying fervently during this time, so when you have your MRI later on we'll be getting news of it working for you!!! Positive thoughts and always believing, dear one!

Yep, we're excited about our new "neighbors", but it will be some time before they return for the winter. Plus, she's working for a few months! We get to be "house watchers" for them, although they seem to have pretty good neighbors keeping an eye on things too.

Would love to have you and Laura over for a weekend if you can fit it in your schedule. Just let us know.

Much love,

Mary & Bill Gregory & the Clan

You and my husband are about the same age. He, Rich was diagnosed with a rare head and neck cancer a month ago. He will be starting forty rounds of radiation next week. Rich has a blog also richardwhayes.wordpress.com
Thanks for allowing us to peak into your world and for providing great details on what to expect.
Happy 1/2 day! Blessings, Lisa

Mark,

If the message above (from Lisa) doesn't compel you to CONTINUE your blog postings, I don't know what will. I kept telling you that you never know who is reading your blog....

GREAT WORK, BIG GUY!

Much love,
Mary

Melvin,

Yes, I didn't post for a few weeks, and then I put up a few - sporadic!

Unfortunately, no cuts from the Kia commercial (of course it can be viewed on their website at http://www.kia.com/#/sorento/hop-in/?sorentoMinisitePage=home or You Tube). Laura has made friends with the lady the regular-sized sock monkey shown near the end of the commercial on the Sorento's rear seat. The lady is now working on a full-sized suit. Soon enough, there may be a giant sock monkey roaming around Crystal Beach...

Yes, Slug's card was great! Coincidentally, when I started to type this reply comment to you, the Today show was talking about a house in Happy Valley... Oregon. Still may be some type of sign...

Lisa,

I hope that your husband does well! I'm certainly no expert, but my tumors have always responded very well to radiation (they were "zapped" and never returned). I will check out his blog!

Thanks,
Mark

Mary,

I would like to make it over there as well! Maybe after my current radiation ends. That would still be a stretch...

I will continue to post as long as medical issues don't prevent me! It is a great way to communicate!
